Open Call: MBZ LAB – Sonic Collaboration in Unconventional Spaces
The Music Biennale Zagreb (MBZ) is inviting early-to-mid-career artists and artistic duos from South East and Central Europe working in sound and music to apply for MBZ LAB, a new ‘project incubator’ supporting collaborative, site-specific sound works in unconventional spaces.
Deadline: 1 September 2025
Selected artists will receive:
- Travel and accommodation for a 3–4 day research visit to Zagreb (27–31 October 2025)
- A seed development fee of €1000
- Mentorship and networking with the MBZ team and local partners
The final commissioned projects will premiere at the 34th Music Biennale Zagreb in April 2027.
MBZ LAB seeks bold, process-driven creators: composer-performers, sound/installation artists, improvisers, new media and performance artists who engage with sound in non-traditional ways.
Eligibility:
Artists aged approx. 25–35 with a collaborative practice and a public body of work. Priority is given to applicants based within ~500 km of Zagreb or with strong regional ties.
