Summer Imago Sloveniae International Festival

Festival

The event was established in 1994 with the intention of completely reinvigorating the cultural image of Slovenian old town centres, squares, religious buildings, castles, museums, and other built heritage with live cultural events. Each summer, the festival brings together 25 Slovenian municipalities and towns that organise, under the IMAGO SLOVENIAE trademark, more than 60 concerts by prominent Slovenian and foreign musicians and other cultural events.

Summer Music Festival at Podsreda

Festival

Since 1995 the Summer Music Festival at Podsreda Castle has regularly taken place at Kozjanski park. During summer months, musical performances by masters and their students resonate among the castle walls and the music programme and music seminars contribute significantly to keeping the castle alive with activity. The seminars, which feature internationally renowned musicians, are the only events of this kind in the Kozjanski region. Work at the seminars includes technically focused individual music lessons as well as ensemble music-making. The artistic director of the festival is professor Andrej Zupan.

Summer Theatre Khislstein

Venue

Summer Theatre Khislstein is an auditorium that hosts concerts and theatre shows. It has the form of an amphitheatre and is enclosed by medieval town walls. Various concerts, theatre performances and other spectacles take place here, bringing summertime variety to Kranj’s social life. Location: Kranj

SunnySun

A vital force of the Slovenian hip-hop and dance music scene, SunnySun is an acclaimed producer, mentor, seasoned DJ with over 15 years of experience, and founder of the BigNose record shop. Hailing from both Syria and Croatia, his artistic expression shines through his explosive blend of hip-hop, breakbeat, house, acid and electro, infused with soulful samples and a street attitude. As an eclectic selector, he shares a profound love and passion for exploring new sounds and digging into dusty crates. He also produces music and collaborates with his sister Sahareya, and has many new house, electro and ghettotech projects coming up.

Suzi Soprano

Suzi Soprano is a post-punk band from Krško, combining elements of punk, doom metal, sludge pop, and hardcore. The group consists of Matic Koritnik (vocals), Enej Mavsar (guitar), and Uroš Kovač (drums). Known for their energetic shows and playing off-stage, they have been active since 2015. They released Prividi (2017), the EP Suzi Soprano (2020), and Weltschmerz (2023). They have performed in Slovenia, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Svojat

The trio Svojat is a proper rock’n’roll band that grew out of Slovenia’s exceptional free-improvisation scene. The trio is a classic rock line-up, however, the band is its own blend of experiment, difficult to nail down in terms of genre, which combines elements of avant-pop, post-punk, and improvisation.

Širom

Artist

Širom is a Slovenian trio consisting of Ana Kravanja, Samo Kutin, and Iztok Koren. The members come from Prekmurje, the Tolmin area, and the Karst region. Their music blends elements of folk, improvised, and classical music with psychedelic influences. They use a variety of traditional and handmade instruments. The band has released several albums, including The Liquified Throne of Simplicity (2022), and has toured across Europe.

ŠKM banda

Artist

The instrumental ensemble ŠKM band, established in 2000 in Beltinci, creates its music at the intersection of rock, noise rock and jazz rock.

Škofja Loka Castle

Venue

The Castle houses the Loka Museum collections, which display the historical cultural, artistic, ethnological and natural heritage of the Škofja Loka area, and occasionally hosts diverse cultural and music events. Location: Škofja Loka
