Samo Šalamon

Artist

Guitar player Samo Šalamon (1978), whose illustrious teachers include John Scofield, has built a distinguished international career. In 2008, Šalamon was selected as one of the world’s ten hottest new guitarists by the Guitar Player magazine. Three of his albums, Ela’s Dream (Splasc(h), 2005), Government Cheese (Fresh Sound New Talent, 2006) and Ornethology (Samo Records, 2003), were given the highest rating (four stars) by The Penguin Guide to Jazz, a reference work containing a directory of jazz recordings, while Ornethology have been included in The Penguin Jazz Guide: The History of the Music in the 1001 Best Albums.

Samo Vovk

Samo Vovk is active as a musician, singer, arranger, producer, guitarist, and pianist. He started to practice singing more seriously during his student years, when he entered the world of a cappella music through the Perpetuum Jazzile choir. He also began to teach himself music arrangement and jazz harmony. He is currently the artistic leader and arranger for the Vokalni band Kreativo a cappella ensemble. As an arranger and composer, he previously also collaborated with other a cappella groups and choirs both at home and abroad. Since 2012, he plays guitar in a duo with his wife, violist Barbara Grahor Vovk.

Sandra Feketija

Sandra Feketija is a Slovenian singer, best known as an outstanding backing vocalist. She performed as a backing vocalist at the Eurovision Song Contest four times: for Rebeka Dremelj (2008), Quartissimo (2009), Maja Keuc (2011), and Eva Boto (2012). She was also an alto, soloist, and vocal coach with the group Perpetuum Jazzile. Feketija has collaborated with many Slovenian artists, including Uroš Perić, Oto Pestner, Nuša Derenda, Rebeka Dremelj, Tabu, and Nuška Drašček. In addition to her music career, she is a teacher of English and German and runs a language studio in Celje.

Sankofa Choir

The choir Sankofa has been active since 2009. The choir unites singers of African descent with their Slovenian and international counterparts in the celebration of the African choral tradition. ‘Sankofa’” is a metaphorical symbol used by the Akan people of Ghana; it expresses the importance of reaching back to the knowledge gained in the past and connecting it with the present. The choir’s musical output thus features both traditional and modern musical languages
