Slovenian music travelled the world in 2025 – new Music Slovenia report reveals key patterns

Slovenian artists were highly active on international stages in 2025, performing across Europe and beyond – from nearby club venues to major concert halls and festivals in cities such as Berlin, Vienna, Seoul and Tokyo.

This is one of the main findings of the new Music Slovenia report Slovenia's Musical Footprint Wordwide - Performance Data and International Reach in 2025, which analyses international touring activity of Slovenian musicians.

According to the report, 185 artists and ensembles performed abroad, with almost 900 concerts documented during the year – confirming a lively and outward-looking music scene across genres, from electronic and alternative to jazz, metal, folk and classical music.

Most performances took place in neighboring and nearby countries, especially Croatia, Germany, Austria and Italy, where touring is easier and professional networks are well established. At the same time, a smaller number of artists appeared on some of Europe’s and Asia’s most prestigious stages and festivals, strengthening the long-term international visibility of Slovenian music.

The report also shows that different genres follow different international paths: club-based electronic and alternative scenes tour frequently, metal bands operate within tight global networks, jazz relies on festivals and curated venues, while classical music travels less often but to highly prestigious institutions.

Touring activity peaked in late summer and autumn, in line with the European festival season and typical concert cycles.

Music Slovenia notes that the analysis is based on artist submissions to the Music Slovenia Tours platform combined with publicly available information such as festival programs and venue listings. Not all performances are necessarily captured, and some details may be incomplete or change due to cancellations or late programme updates. The figures should therefore be read as well-grounded estimates that reveal overall trends, rather than exact totals.

Despite this, the study offers the most comprehensive picture so far of how Slovenian music circulated internationally in 2025 and provides a valuable reference for artists, professionals and cultural policy makers.
